Brian has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry and a degree in Business & Finance from the University of New Hampshire. He has extensive experience working in insurance and restoration, having managed millions of dollars worth of reconstruction projects during his career, first as an Operations Manager and then as a business owner. He is proficient with industry-standard estimating programs and has extensive knowledge of estimating and construction practices.
Brian’s main concern when handling a claim is that the insured is treated fairly and receives every penny that he/she deserves. With his unique skill set and education, he started his Public Adjuster career as a partner of DVG Public Adjustment Services and then opened Cornerstone Public Adjustment Services. Brian feels that every insured should have an advocate looking out for and ensuring their interest is protected.
Justin has been in the insurance industry for over 10 years. He grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University. Shortly after college, he began working in insurance in 2009. He has worked for three large insurance carriers as both a homeowner’s and commercial claims adjuster and has handled thousands of insurance claims across the country. Justin also has experience working as a manager for a mitigation company overseeing claims for fire, water, smoke, and mold damages and dealing directly with insurance companies during those projects.
Justin now uses his valuable knowledge and experience as an insurance adjuster for the insurance company and turns his efforts to helping homeowners and business owners with their insurance claims.
Having to file a claim for an unforeseen event can be devastating and a lot to handle alone. He believes having someone who is aligned with their best interest during these challenging times is a rewarding feeling both for the policyholders and Cornerstone Public Adjustment.
Disaster Restoration Services
Fire & Smoke
A fire can be one of the most traumatic events you can experience as a home or business owner. When your home or livelihood is at stake, time is of the essence, and we work diligently to put the pieces back together again.
Wind & Storm
Storms can catch you off guard and cause catastrophic damage to your home or business. Storms present a complex process of assessing and documenting the full extent of your damage.
Water & Flood
Water can cause damage on a small and large scale. It can be hidden, such as mold, and it can be widespread, such as the devastating force of a flood or hurricane.
Snow & Ice Damage
Heavy snow and ice dams are very common in New England. They can cause significant exterior and interior damage to your home or business.
Theft & Vandalism
No matter how many steps you take to protect your home or business, vandalism, and theft can still occur. Even small damages can be deceptively expensive.
Mold & Contamination
Mold damage often follows storms, burst pipes, and seemingly innocuous damp areas. However, mold should not be underestimated, as it can cause serious health issues.
Burst Pipes
Burst pipes are one of the leading causes of water damage. Leaks can allow massive amounts of water to be displaced in a short amount of time, causing severe damage to your home or business.
Business Interruption
The last thing you should have to worry about is how long it will take for your business to reopen after unexpected damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Because public adjusters are experts in the fields of policy interpretation, coverage application, building estimation, contents inventories, business interruption, and additional living expense claims. That means they can take the burden off of policyholders and allow them to continue on with their normal routine while the adjuster prepares inventory items, compiles documents, meets insurance company representatives, and consults with experts. Further, because of their expertise, public adjusters often find coverages deep inside policies that policyholders were unaware of, which allows for further claims and reimburses that wouldn’t have been possible without the adjuster’s help. Public adjusters are often able to review a policy of insurance and find coverage that the policyholder or contractor is unaware of, and make claims for losses a consumer may miss.
Immediately! The sooner you get started, the better. Securing expert help from the get-go will maximize your chances of receiving the payment you deserve. Having an adjuster’s expertise means minimizing the potential failure to comply with policy conditions that may jeopardize some or all of your claims. The best time to contact a public adjuster is as soon as the claim happens. With our expertise, we are aware of exactly what needs to be done in order to protect and mitigate damages and prevent further damages or other losses from occurring.
Unlike your attorney, a public adjuster specializes in property damage matters. The expertise of a public adjuster focuses specifically on technical matters involving building damage assessment, building code, and extensive knowledge of property insurance policy language. An attorney, on the other hand, focuses on legal statutes and procedural matters that are not relevant to the claims process unless the claim is escalated. Unlike your attorney, the public adjuster’s technical knowledge makes us capable of identifying errors in the scope and pricing of the company adjuster, maximizing your claim value without the need for escalation or a lengthy legal battle. Moreover, an attorney will charge 33% of the total settlement, while a public adjuster’s fee is only 10%. However, in the unlikely event that your claim does require escalation, Cornerstone will consult with our affiliated counsel on your behalf without additional cost to you.
This is a myth. In fact, insurance companies often welcome a public adjuster on the claim as their adjusters are inundated with work and unable to dedicate the amount of time or hands-on service that a paying customer, like you, deserves. That’s where we come in to handle your claim. We will convey all the conditions, procedures, and protocols, and take the burden off the company’s adjuster. Further, company adjusters realize that public adjusters understand how to put a claim together, so they can expect a proper submission in a timely and accurate manner.
While filing claims may impact your premiums or insurability, representation by a public adjuster has no bearing on an insurer’s decision to increase premiums. Insurance companies routinely use standard underwriting techniques to determine premiums. Public adjustment services are not factored into these decisions.
The simple difference is that a public adjuster works for you! Insurance companies retain the services of an independent adjuster to help them minimize or invalidate claims. Public adjusters work for policyholders to make sure they receive everything they are due.
Insurance companies often rush to complete claim payments because they are in a hurry to settle in order to minimize the amount of money they pay out. At Cornerstone, we work to resolve your claim in a timely manner, while simultaneously making sure that every possible insurable claim is covered and filed to ensure that you receive the maximum payout possible.
We don’t charge for our services until you receive your settlement, at which point we will receive 10% of the final settlement of the loss. This fee is based on the replacement cost value of the negotiated settlement. It is only placed on Coverage A, Coverage B, and Coverage C.
